PHOTOGRAPHY PENDING — ABOUT

I'm Chris Innes. I work as a support worker at Linkage Community Trust in East Yorkshire, where most days I'm with adults who have additional needs — assisting with a food-growing programme called Grow to Eat, and teaching a one-to-one course called Evolve, which is about using AI with intent for higher-level creative learners.

The rest of the time, I'm based in Beverley, growing things on an allotment, recording a podcast called The Pin Drop, making music with AI as a collaborator, and writing short films set on the Holderness coast. I'm vegan, accidentally allergic to everything that should make that easy, and I cook a lot of beans.

This site is where it all sits.

The day job and the rest of it are the same job, mostly. The teaching at Linkage is where I work out what I actually think about creativity, attention, and how people learn — usually by getting it wrong with a single student and then trying again the next week. Evolve started as a way to give higher-level creative learners somewhere to do real work with AI tools without the conversation defaulting to either fear or hype. It's some of the most interesting work I do, and I'm proud of it.

The making — sound, film, photography, growing food, writing — sits alongside the teaching, not under it. I've spent the last year building things that didn't exist: a Telegram bot that helps a friend with memory difficulties get through her week, an allotment planner for the kind of UK regional sowing dates I could never find a good answer to, a cross-stitch pattern automator because someone asked. Things tend to start as something I needed and end up as something I'd actually use.

Long-running interests, in case they help: decision theory, OODA loops, cognitive load and resource management, learning, fiction, and the Holderness coast.

The best way to reach me is by email — chris.innes@mail.com. I'm open to conversation about: AI teaching and curriculum, particularly with neurodivergent or SEN learners; collaborations on creative work involving sound, film, or AI; and the occasional interesting commission.

I'm not on most social platforms in any sustained way. I write here, on this site, in the Notes section, when I have something worth saying.
